Generally, it should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete an application online.

You will need your Social Security Number, valid ID (Driver’s License, U.S. Passport, or State ID), valid address and a valid email address registered to your name. If your application will include a Joint Signer, your Joint Signer will also need to supply this information.

You can fund your checking, savings, or money market account during the online account opening process using a debit/credit card or by internal transfer through Online Banking using your existing SouthState account. You may also choose to fund at a later time with Mobile or ATM Deposit or by visiting a branch.

Certificates of deposit (CDs) must be funded during the online account opening process either by ACH or by internal transfer through Online Banking from your existing SouthState account.

Yes. You may add a Joint Signer to your application. If your application includes a Joint Signer, your Joint Signer will also need to supply a Social Security Number, valid ID (Driver’s License, U.S. Passport, or State ID), valid address and a valid email address registered to his or her name.

You must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your state of residence. Minors aged 13-17 (or up to age of majority for state of residence), may apply for an account with a parent(s) or guardian as the Joint Signer.

Courtesy Overdraft Privilege is not available for Direct Checking which means we will decline or return transactions when you do not have enough money to cover item(s) presented or re-presented against your account. In the event your account becomes overdrawn, you will not be charged an Overdraft Paid Item Fee.

  2. Proof of employment or service may be required. Proof of employment or service may be shown by receipt of payment to your account (may include retirement benefits) from a branch of the Military, Healthcare Provider, Law Enforcement Agency, Rescue Service, School or a Non-profit (501(c)(3)) Organization to be eligible for this account type.

  3. Internet service provider and/or message data rates may apply.
  4. Zelle and the Zelle related marks are wholly owned by Early Warning Services, LLC and are used herein under license.
  5. Your employees can avoid an $8 monthly maintenance charge if during the monthly statement cycle one of the following qualifiers are met: 1) Have 15 or more posted and cleared Debit Card purchases/payments; or 2) Receive combined direct deposits totaling $250 or more; or 3) Maintain an average daily balance of $1,000 or more in their Account.
