How do you gather information about me?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Pay your bills or apply for a loan;
  • Use your credit or debit card.
We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Do you notify your customers if there is a change to the Privacy Notice?
Yes. We notify customers if we change our information collection, sharing or security practices in a manner that requires providing existing customers with a revised notice.

How do I limit the sharing of my information?
Depending on the reason for sharing your information, you either cannot limit the sharing of your information, or we do not share your information.

Why do you share my personal information for everyday business purposes?
Sharing your information for everyday business purposes allows us to process your transactions, maintain your account(s), respond to court orders and legal investigations, or report to credit bureaus.

Why am I unable to limit the sharing of my information for your everyday business purposes?
It is necessary for SouthState to share certain customer information for everyday business purposes, including but not limited to, to process transactions on a customer’s behalf and to submit certain information to credit reporting agencies where applicable. In addition, we may be required to provide a customer’s information in response to a legal investigation or court order.

Why do you share my personal information for marketing purposes?
Sharing your personal information for marketing purposes allows us to offer products and services to you.

Why am I unable to limit the sharing of my information for your marketing purposes?
Under Regulation P, which governs information sharing practices, the way in which we share information does not provide customers an opportunity to limit this sharing under our Privacy Notice.

How do I stop receiving marketing and solicitations from SouthState?
If you would like to opt-out of marketing and solicitations from SouthState please contact us at (800) 277-217.

You may continue to receive solicitations via statement insert or Online Banking, as well as account notifications or other non-marketing related communications.

Why do you share my personal information for joint marketing with other financial companies?
Sharing your personal information for joint marketing allows us to offer products and services to you that may be available through other financial companies who are associated with SouthState.

Why am I unable to limit the sharing of my information for joint marketing with other financial companies?
We do not share your information with others to market their own products and services to you. We only share your information with our marketing partners to assist us in our marketing efforts to offer you available products and services and provide a better customer experience.

How do I stop receiving marketing and solicitations generated through joint marketing agreements that SouthState has with other financial companies?
If you would like to opt-out of joint marketing and solicitations from other financial companies that SouthState has contracted with, please contact us at (800) 277-2175.

You may continue to receive solicitations via statement insert or Online Banking, as well as account notifications or other non-marketing related communications.

Does this mean I cannot request to be opted out or unsubscribed from marketing/solicitations?
No. While you are unable to limit the sharing of your information, we understand that some customers prefer not to receive solicitations. If this is something you no longer wish to receive, please contact us at (800) 277-2175. You may continue to receive solicitations via statement insert or Online Banking, as well as account notifications or other non-marketing related communications.

I have opted out of receiving marketing and solicitations. Will my information still be shared for your marketing purposes or for joint marketing?
While your information may be shared with our marketing partners for our marketing purposes, if you are opted out, you should not receive any solicitations, with the exception of solicitations via statement insert or Online Banking. You will also continue receiving account notifications or other non-marketing related communications.

Who are affiliates?
Our affiliates include a bank (SouthState Bank, N.A.), a factoring company (Corporate Billing, Inc.), a registered investment advisor (SouthState Advisory, Inc.) and a broker-dealer (Duncan Williams, Inc.)

Why do you share my personal information with your affiliates?
Please note we only share information about your transactions and experiences with our affiliates. This allows our Bank to meet regulatory reporting obligations and to perform other necessary duties and services.

We do not share information about your creditworthiness for our affiliates’ everyday business purposes, and we do not share your personal information for our affiliates to market to you.

Why am I unable to limit the sharing of my information for your affiliates’ everyday business purposes?
SouthState is permitted to share information about a customer’s transactions and experience with our affiliates. This allows our Bank to meet regulatory reporting obligations and to perform other duties and services.

While we will share information about your transactions and experience, we do not share your information with our affiliates regarding your creditworthiness or for them to market to you.

Does SouthState share my information with non-affiliates to market to me?
We do not share your information with non-affiliates to market to you, with the exception of joint marketing. Our joint marketing partner includes a credit card company.

Does the Privacy Notice Apply to business/commercial customers?
No. The Privacy Notice does not apply to business/commercial customers.

I am a SouthState Advisory/Retirement Plan Services customer. Does this notice apply to me?
Yes. The SouthState Privacy Notice is applicable to SouthState Advisory, SouthState Retirement Plan Services and Minis & Company customers.

How often is the Privacy Notice updated?
We update the SouthState Privacy Notice when there are changes within our company that warrant an update to our Notice.

Where can I find more information about your compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)?
Additional information and instructions on how to exercise your rights under CCPA are available on our website.
